Finchey - A Brief History

"Breathtaking, instantly and earnestly wonderful..." - BBC Introducing

Finchey is first and foremost, Robbie Burley. He's been writing and performing music since childhood.

He's done the route of playing in bands.. Most notably Dayglo and Pearl Kites. He sings, writes, plays guitar, piano and has developed a style all his own.

Since 2004 he has been working with UK producer and musician Dave Ody of Kid Galahad, The Furze and Mothboxer, with the intention of releasing and realising the potential in his music. Hence "Finchey" was born around that time..

Some notable live performances followed in New York and Japan and the material that eventually ended up on the debut was written .

The debut EP was released worldwide in 2013

Mixing elements of folk with rootsy rhythms and pop sensibilities along with a distinctly baroque feel with echoes of Smile era Beach Boys, the debut album

Murmurations followed in 2015.

Three years later, after gigging on the London circuit and picking up rave reviews, radio play as well as exposure on Canadian TV, Finchey released the second album, Rum & Chess on December 7th 2018

The album was compiled from well over 30 songs, whittled down to 11, mixing the folky elements of the debut but branching out into new sonic textures with wide ranging influences from Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, The Beatles, PJ Harvey and Jimi Hendrix

As of the end of the crazy year that was 2020, Finchey's latest album - Offline, Off Radar is complete and will be released in January 2021. The  album is another step forward for the Finchey sound and contains 10 new songs blended together into one continuous piece - The album took longer than anticipated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the end result is nothing short of a masterpiece ..
